I've got a hair crush

I think that I might have to bite the bullet and get my hair cut and colored. I cannot get this style out of my mind. What do you think? Also, middle part. Welcome back, my inner 8th grader has missed you.

French Hair

This past weekend, we spent some time with a friend Genevieve who has been living in Paris on and off for the past 3 years. While I wore my hair braided and my sister rocked a pretty badass blowout, Genevieve looked as french as they come, letting her hair be natural, slightly messy and in all honestly beautiful.

Since PB and I have been talking more and more about a trip and France has been on the list, I have become increasing aware of how gorgeous French womens hair is. I was so glad that I came across these rules in Vogue so that maybe I can mimic their (and Gen's) style.

 Rule #1: “The more supermarket the shampoo, the better the hair looks,” says de Maigret, who uses Pantene or L’Oréal Elsève. “I don’t know why, it just does. Wash it once in the morning, not twice, like they do at the hair salon.”

Rule #2: “French women never put conditioner in the hair. It makes it straight and flat.”

Rule #3: “After you get out of the shower, don’t touch it.  No hair dryer, nothing. You just let the air do it naturally.”

Rule #4: “Don’t brush. Also, you know, Parisian girls walk a lot, which makes the hair a little messy from the wind. If you’re going to go outside and have it get messy anyway, it’s better to just not brush it from the beginning.”

Rule #5: “Sometimes if you put some dry shampoo, it gives a cool texture—instead of washing it every day. I wash my hair every two days. I know. It’s really too much.”

Could you guys ever abide by these rules? I am tempted by the idea of dry shampoo, especially after a yoga class. Have you ever tried it?

 So dudes, I am in a bit of a hair rut. Not the shape, since I have cut my bangs, I have been all about them. It's the color that it getting me. For those of you who don't know me, I have very dark brown hair. It doesn't get lighter in the sun or have natural highlights. It is just straight up dark. A few years ago Ombre came on the scene and totally rocked my (and seemingly every woman whose hair I admired) world. Dark on top with lighter highlights at the bottom. So pretty and interesting. But I was too chicken to do it. Then last week when I was getting a trim, I asked my hairdresser--who has ombre-- what she thought of my doing it. She herself loves it and while dying your hair is damaging, it isn't all of your hair and the upkeep up minimal compared to regular highlights. So I am asking you my dear readers-- what do you think? Have you ever tried something totally new with your hair? I have gotten Keratin and loved how easy it made my hair to manage. Anyone know more about Ombre? Will I look totally 2010?

A few months ago I decided that I would like to grow my hair Kardashian long (sans extensions) and so far I was fairly happy with my progress. But then I fell into a rut, inspired by bloggers everywhere. I turned to the top knot and got stuck in a bun rut.  I love that it is an instant style, works with my slightly dirty hair and even my bangs. But enough was enough. Plus my head started to hurt. So I have started a new trend for me. Wearing my hair down. This also means that I have to actually do it which I am still getting the hang of. There are some mornings when I miss that having a bun was a look  and have been on the Pinterest search for fun ways to show off my locks. It was there that I noticed a ton of these stars for your hair.

These really any color stars come in clips , headbands, and are probably completely DIY-able. Though Etsy and Catbird really have some awesome ones ready to go. What do you think? Would you wear these? What about to work?
